Salford City's Redemption: From 8-0 Defeat to a Brave FA Cup Display vs Man City (2026)

Salford City's FA Cup journey took an inspiring turn at Etihad Stadium, a far cry from the devastating 8-0 defeat they suffered there last season. The scars of that loss were still raw, but this time, they left with their heads held high, having given Manchester City, the quadruple-chasing giants, a run for their money.

Captain Luke Garbutt reflected on the transformation, saying, "Last season's defeat was demoralizing, it dented our confidence. But today, it's a different story altogether."

Ben Woodburn and Brandon Cooper came close to scoring for Salford, showing their resilience and determination.

"It's about using this experience as a benchmark to progress," Robinson emphasized. "We couldn't do that last season. Our goal is to get out of League Two. It was a fantastic defensive performance against one of Europe's best teams. They had to bring on four of their top players in the last 20 minutes. We'll dust ourselves off and prepare for our next challenge."

Former Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown, present at the stadium for BBC Sport, believes Salford will grow from this experience. "Reaching this stage is a significant achievement for Salford," he said. "This draw was a true test, and Robinson will have
